During November and December a portrait by Lucinda Rendall of Julian was shown in Waterstones’ first dedicated gallery space in Bloomsbury, London. Together with 14 other portraits, it was part of The Art of Reading exhibition by The Lots Road Group of figurative artists, in association with BookTrust – Britain’s largest reading charity.
These are some thank you letters we have just received from children at Seaford Primary, after Julian’s recent visit. Makes it all worthwhile!!!
Storytelling at Lewes Castle
On January 13th I was invited back to Pells Primary School to spend a happy and stimulating time with the children. It was my second visit to this nurturing, happy school – this time my little dog Ivy came too! I was there to read my book “The Railway Land Dogs’ Club – Ivy’s Lost Ball”, introduce Ivy to the children, and discuss with them what interested them about dogs, a nature reserve and story writing.
Ivy behaved herself as well as you could expect a spirited young terrier to. The children were enchanting; I had the warmest of welcomes and found each class to have a charm of its own.
We had a jolly good laugh at the same time as learning about responsibilities that come with owning a dog, particularly when it came to the poo bag and pretend dog doo-doo !
We compared our ages with dog years and the children thought it hilarious that if Ivy and I swapped roles I would be 455 years old !

We had oodles of fun at our recent book reading event at Bags of Books in Lewes.
The children met Ivy, chatted about their own dogs and experiences on the Railway Land and saw how Lyndsey illustrates using simple watercolour paints
